4th GRADE MATH WORKSHEET WITH ANSWERS

Problem 1 :

Represent the following sentence as number

"Forty eight million seventy two thousand two hundred fourteen ".

(A) 4872240           (B) 4822721          (C) 4872214

Solution :

Answer is 4872214.

Problem 2 :

Write the successor of the number "5999999"

 (A) 5999910           (B) 6000000           (C) 5910100

Solution :

To find the successor of 5999999, we should add the given number by 1. So the answer is 6000000.

Problem 3 :

Fill the blank with suitable number.

54 ____ 562. This number is divisible by 3.

 (A) 3                   (B) 2               (C) 1

Solution :

In a number, if the sum of all the digits is divisible by 3 or a multiple of 3, then the number is divisible by 3.

Let x be the unknown.

  =  5 + 4 + x + 5 + 6 + 2

  =  22 + x

If x  =  2, then the sum will be 24. So, the answer is 2.

Problem 4 :

Multiply 284 by 101

(A) 28564                (B) 28684               (C) 25563

Solution :

By multiplying 284 and 101, we get 28684.

Problem 5 :

The length, breadth and height of building are 75 m, 45 m and 25 m respectively. Find the largest length of a rope that can measure the length, breadth and height of the building an exact number of times.

 (A) 6 m             (B) 5 m                (C) 4 m

Solution :

75  =  3 ⋅ 5 ⋅ 5

45  =  3 ⋅ 3 ⋅ 5

25  =  5 ⋅ 5

HCF  =  5

So, the largest length of a rope that can measure the length, breadth and height of the building is 5 m.

Problem 6 :

Two boys run on a circular track. They start at the same time. They take 12 minutes and 10 minutes respectively to go round once. Find at what time they will run together?

(A) 50             (B) 60               (C) 70

Solution :

For every 12 minutes once the first boy completes 1 round and for every 10 minutes once the second boy completes 1 round.

Multiplies of 12 are

12, 24, 36, 48, 60, 72, .............

Multiplies of 10 are

10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, .............

The common factor is 60, so they will run together after 60 minutes.

Problem 7 :

Subtract the following

 (A) 522.224        (B) 516.321          (C) 555.124

By subtracting this, we get 522.224.

Problem 8 :

A fruit merchant bought mangoes in bulk. He sold 5/8 of mangoes. 1/16 of the mangoes were spoiled. 300 mangoes remained with him. How many mangoes did he buy ?

(A) 640                  (B) 520                (C) 960

Solution :

Let x be the required number of mangoes.

x - (5x/8 + x/16)  =  300

x - (10x/16 + x/16)  =  300

x -11x/16  =  300

16x/16 - 11x/16  =  300

5x/16  =  300

Multiply each side by 16/5.

x  =  300 ⋅ 16/5

x  =  (300 ⋅ 16) / 5

x  =  (60 ⋅ 16) / 1

x  =  960

So, the fruit merchant bought 960 mangoes.

Problem 9 :

The ratio of the number of kilometers traveled by a car to the number of liter of petrol consumed by it is 9:1. If the car travels 108 km.Then how much petrol wold it consume ?

 (A) 12 liters        (B) 15 liters      (C) 18 liters

Solution :

Distance traveled  =  9x and petrol consumption is x.

9x  =  108

x  =  108/9

x  =  12

So, petrol consumption is 12 liters.

Problem 10 :

If 36 workers can build a wall in 12 days, how many days will 16 workers take to build the same wall ?

(A) 3 days                (B) 8 days             (C) 7 days

Solution :

Let x be the required number of days.

Number of workers            Number of days

   36                                12

  16                                x

36 ⋅ 12  =   16 ⋅ x

x  =  (36 ⋅ 12)/16

x  =  27 days

So, the required number of days is 27.
