## About "Divisibility by 9 questions"

Divisibility by 9 questions :

Here we are going to see some practice questions based on the topic divisibility by 9.

If the sum of the digits is divisible by 9, then the given number is divisible by 9.

For example let us take the number 432, sum of the digits 4 + 3 + 2 = 9.

Since the sum of the digits is divisible by 9, we can say that 432 is divisible 9.

By practicing these kind of questions, we can easily test whether the given number is divisible by 9 or not without using calculator.

## Divisibility by 9 Questions

(1)  Which of the following numbers should be added with 1321 to make this number divisible by 9?

Options :

(A)  5             (B)  2                (C)  0

(2)  Which of the following numbers should be subtracted by 13081 to make this number divisible by 9?

Options :

(A) 0              (B) 3           (C) 4

(3)  Check whether the number 9000 is divisible by 9.

Options :

(A) Yes         (B) No

(4)  17_28 this number is divisible by 9. Fill in the blank with any following suitable digit.

Options :

(A) 5                  (B) 8                      (C) 1

(5)  Which of the following number is not divisible by 9.

Options :

(A) 1008                   (B) 600                 (C) 1053

## Divisibility by 9 questions - Solution

Question 1 :

Which of the following numbers should be added with 1321 to make this number divisible by 9?

Options :

(A)  5                (B)  2                  (C)  0

Solution :

First let us find the sum of the digits of the given number 1321.

1321  =  1 + 3 + 2 + 1  =  7

We need to add 2 with this 7 in order to make this number is divisible by 9.

Hence, 2 is to be added with the given number to make 1321 as divisible by 9.

Question 2 :

Which of the following numbers should be subtracted by 13081 to make this number divisible by 9?

Options :

(A) 0              (B) 3           (C) 4

Solution :

First let us find the sum of the digits of the given number 13081.

13081  =  1 + 3 + 0 + 8 + 1  =  13

In order to convert this 13 as 9, we need to subtract 4 from 13.

Hence, 4 is to be subtracted from the given number to make 13081 as divisible by 9.

Question 3 :

Check whether the number 9000 is divisible by 9.

Options :

(A) Yes         (B) No

Solution :

The sum of the digits of 9000 is 9 + 0 + 0 + 0  =  9.

Hence 9000 is divisible by 9.

Question 4 :

17_28 this number is divisible by 9. Fill in the blank with any following suitable digit.

Options :

(A) 5                  (B) 8                      (C) 1

Solution :

Question 5 :

Which of the following number is not divisible by 9.

Options :

(A) 1008                   (B) 600                 (C) 1053

Solution :

Option A :

The sum of the digits of 1008 is,

1 + 0 + 0 + 8  =  9 (it is divisible by 9)

Hence, 1008 is divisible by 9.

Option B :

The sum of the digits of 600 is,

6 + 0 + 0  =  6 (it is not divisible by 9)

Hence, 600 is not divisible by 9.

Option C :

The sum of the digits of 1053 is,

1 + 0 + 5 + 3  =  9 (it is divisible by 9)

Hence, 1053 is divisible by 9.
