DIVISIBILITY RULE FOR 10

If a number ends with 0, then it is divisible by 10.

Example 1 :

Check whether 9470 is divisible by 10.

Solution :

The number 9470 ends with 0.

So, it is divisible by 10.

Example 2 :

Check whether 78000 is divisible by 10.

Solution :

The number 78000 ends with 0.

So, it is divisible by 10.

Example 3 :

Which of the following numbers must be added to 78 to get a number which is divisible by 10 ?

(A)  0,  (B)  1,  (C)  2

Solution :

78 + 0  =  78

78 + 1  =  79

78 + 2  =  80

In the above calculation, when we add 2 to 78, we get 80 which ends with 0.

Because the number 80 ends with 0, it is divisible by 10.

So, option C is correct.

Example 4 :

Which of the following numbers should be multiplied by 24 to get a number which is divisible by 10 ?

(A)  4,  (B)  5,  (C)  6

Solution :

⋅ 24  =  96

 24  =  120

⋅ 24  =  144

In the above calculation, when we multiply 5 24, we get 120 which ends with 0.

Because the number 120 ends with 0, it is divisible by 10.

So, option B is correct.
