DIVISIBILITY BY 11 QUESTIONS

About "Divisibility by 11 questions"

Divisibility by 11 questions :

Here we are going to see some practice questions on divisibility by 11.

How to find whether the given number is divisible by 11 ?

If the difference between the sum of one set of alternate digits and the sum of the other set of alternate digits is 0 or 11 or 22.....the numbers are divisible by 11.

For example let us take the number 198.

To check whether it is divisible by 11 or not.

Sum of numbers which are in first and third place :

1 + 8  =  9

Middle number :

9

Hence the given number 198 is divisible by 11.

Divisibility by 11 - questions

(1)  Check whether the number 62928 is divisible by 11.

(2)  Check whether the number 1936 is divisible by 11.

(3)  Check whether the number 190817 is divisible by 11.

(4)  Check whether the number 6368 is divisible by 11.

(5)  Check whether the number 1364 is divisible by 11.

Divisibility by 11 questions - Solution

Question 1 :

Check whether the number 62928 is divisible by 11.

Solution :

Sum of numbers which are in 1st and 3rd place :

6 + 9  =  15

Sum of numbers which are in 2nd and 4th place :

2 + 2  =  4

Difference between the sum of alternative digits

15  -  4  =  11

Hence, the given number is divisible by 11.

Question 2 :

Check whether the number 1936 is divisible by 11.

Solution :

Sum of numbers which are in 1st and 3rd place :

1 + 3  =  4

Sum of numbers which are in 2nd and 4th place :

9 + 6  =  15

Difference between the sum of alternative digits

15  -  4  =  11

Hence, the given number is divisible by 11.

Question 3 :

Check whether the number 190817 is divisible by 11.

Solution :

Sum of numbers which are in 1st, 3rd and 5th place :

1 + 0  + 1 =  2

Sum of numbers which are in 2nd and 4th place :

9 + 8 + 7 =  24

Difference between the sum of alternative digits

24  -  2  =  22

22 is the multiple of 11

Hence, the given number is divisible by 11.

Question 4 :

Check whether the number 6368 is divisible by 11.

Solution :

Sum of numbers which are in 1st and 3rd place :

6 + 6  =  12

Sum of numbers which are in 2nd and 4th place :

3 + 8  =  11

Difference between the sum of alternative digits

12  -  11  =  1

Hence, the given number is not divisible by 11.

Question 5 :

Check whether the number 1364 is divisible by 11.

Solution :

Sum of numbers which are in 1st and 3rd place :

1 + 6  =  7

Sum of numbers which are in 2nd and 4th place :

3 + 4  =  7

Difference between the sum of alternative digits

7  -  7  =  0

Hence, the given number is divisible by 11.

Divisibility test :

Divisibility Test is the topic in which we are going to see the shortcuts to predict one number is divisible by another number without doing too much calculation.

Once we remember these rules we can easily divide two numbers without a calculator.Learning divisibility test is more important for the students who are in school to do simplification in an easy way.
