Classify each polynomial according to its degree and number of terms.
Example 1 :
5x
Solution :
Degree : 1
Terms : 1
(5x) is a linear monomial.
Example 2 :
3x + 2
Solution :
Degree : 1
Terms : 2
(3x + 2) is a linear binomial.
Example 3 :
x2 + x + 4
Solution :
Degree : 2
Terms : 3
(x2 + x + 4) is a quadratic trinomial.
Example 4 :
5x3 - x2 + 5x - 1
Solution :
Degree : 3
Terms : 4
(5x3 - x2 + 5x - 1) is a cubic polynomial.
Example 5 :
2x7 - 9x5 - 5x2 - x + 3
Solution :
Degree : 7
Terms : 5
(2x7 - 9x5 - 5x2 - x + 3) is a 7th degree polynomial.
