(a)  11 cents   (b)  31 Cents  (c)  34 cents  (d)  81 cents

Question 2 :

What is the number 27 in exponential form.

(a)  27  (B)  33  (c)  93  (d)  35

To make a hand ice cream, Talia mixes together 1/4 cup of Shea butter and 1/8 cup of sweet almond oil with 1/3 cup of milk. What is the volume of the ingredients she has used, in cups ?

(a)  1/24  (b)  17/28  (c)  1/16  (d)  1/15

Question 4 :

What is the missing numerator :

x/15 - 2/15  =  1/3

(a)  3  (b)  5  (c)  7  (d)  9

Question 5 :

Use the rule to complete the sequence.

4, 6, 12, ........

Rule : Subtract two, then multiply by three.

(a)  10  (b)  16  (c)  22  (d)  30

Question 6 :

On Monday Rachel learned five French Verbs. On Tuesday she learned thirteen verbs, and on Wednesday she learned twenty one. If this pattern continues, how many French verbs will she learn on Friday ?

(a)  26    (b)  28    (c)  36    (d)  37

Question 7 :

What is the next number in this sequence ?

80, 71, 62, 53, ...........

(a)  41    (b)  42    (c)  44    (d)  62

Question 8 :

Write an expression for twelve batches of b.

(a)  12+b    (b)  12b    (c)  b12    (d)  12÷ b

Question 9 :

Use the relationship y  =  6t - 2 to answer the question.

What is the value of y, when t is 12 ?

(a)  58    (b)  70    (c)  72    (d)  80

Question 10 :

Miriam rescued m kittens that she found outside her home. After nursing them back to health, she gave away four adoption kept the rest. Which expression describes the number of kittens Miriam still has ?

(a)  4m   (b)  m-4    (c)  4-m    (d)  m+4

(1)  Solution :

Cost of 3 caesar salads  =  3(7.99)  ==>  23.97

Cost of 1 fish pie  =  9.80

Cost of two pizzas  =  2(10.52)C  ==>  21.04

Cost of a tiramisu  =  6.15

Total bill  =  23.97+9.80+21.04+6.15

=  60.96

Share of 1 person  =  60.96/6

=  10.16

=  $8 + $2 and 16 cents

=  $8 + 216 cents

Three half dollar  =  150 cents

Three dimes  =  3(10)  =  30 cents

1 nickel  =  5 cents

  =  150+30+5

  =  185

=  216-185

  =  31 cents.

(2)  Solution :

27  =  3 ⋅ 3 ⋅ 3

27  =  33

So, exponential form of 27 is 33.

(3)  Solution :

Quantity of butter  =  1/4

Quantity of sweet almond oil  =  1/8

Quantity of milk  =  1/3

Volume of ingredients  =  1/4 + 1/8 + 1/3

=  (6+3+8) /24

=  17/24

So, volume of ingredients is 17/24 cups.

(4)  Solution :

x/15 - 2/15  =  1/3

x/15  =  1/3 + 2/15

x/15  =  (5+2)/15

x/15  =  7/15

x  =  (7/15) ⋅ 15

x  =  7

So, the missing numerator is 7.

(5)  Solution :

According to the rule :

Subtract 2 :

12-2  =  10

Multiply by 3 :

10(3)  =  30

So, the answer is 30.

(6)  Solution :

5, 13, 21,...................

Number of words she read on Thursday  =  21+8  ==>  29

Number of words she read on Friday  =  29+8  ==>  37

So, on Friday she will learn 37 words.

(7)  Solution :

80-71  ==>  9

71-62  ==>  9

53-x  =  9

x  =  53-9

x  =  44

So, the next number is 44.

(8)  Solution :

Twelve batches of b  =  12b

(9)  Solution :

y  =  6t - 2

Apply t = 12

y  =  6(12) - 2

y  =  72-2

y  =  70

So, the value of y is 70.

(10)  Solution :

Number of kittens that she has  =  m

After she gave four adoption :

Number of kittens she has  =  m-4
