Problem 8  :

The flight time from New York to Paris is eight hours. Below on all Measurements that are equal to eight hours.

(i) 10,000 seconds    (ii) 28,800 seconds

(iii) 50,600 seconds    (iv) 480 minutes

(v) 800 minutes        (vi) 1800 minutes

            (A) (ii) (iv)     b. (i) (iii)     c. (ii) (v)     d. (iv) (vi)

Problem 9  :

Column A

A perfect square greater than 49

Column B

A perfect square smaller than 64

(A) Column A is greater  (B) Column B is greater

(C) Both are equal    (D) None of these

Problem 10 :

A rectangle had two equal triangles cut out at each corner. Find the perimeter of the remaining shape.

(A)  45 cm  (B)  34 cm   (C)  35.6 cm   (D)  10 cm

(1)  Solution  :

Column A :

=  4 × 18/5

=  20 × 18

=  360

Column B :

=  17/5 ÷ 1/6

=  17/5 × 6/1

=  102/5

= 20.5

So, Column A is greater.

(2)  Solution  :

Column A :

Given, 4x

Let us take, x = 1

=  4(1)

=  4

Column B :

Given, -4y

Let us take, y = 1

=  -4(1)

=  -4

if x < y then 4 < -4

So, none of these.

(3)  Solution  :

Column A :

Amount of 20% = $54.55

=  54.55 × 20/100

=  109.1/10

=  $10.91

Column B :

Given, $8

So, Column A is greater.

(4)  Solution  :

Column A :

Given, 2 big bottles cost = $20

=  20×2

=  40

Column B :

Given, 4 small bottles cost = $30

=  30×4

=  120

So, Column B is greater.

(5)  Solution  :

Column A :

Given,

Let u, v, w and x are four singers.

u has 4 chances to perform.

v has 3 chances.

w has 2 chances.

x has 1 chance

Total number of chances  =  4(3)(2)(1)

=  24

Column B :

Given, 24

So, both are equal.

(6)  Solution  :

Since alternate angles are equal, they are parallel lines.

So, Both are equal.

(7)  Solution  :

Column A :

Percentage change  =  (New value - old value)/old value

=  (10-8)/8

=  2/8

=  1/4

=  (1/4) ⋅ 100%

=  25%

Column B :

20%

So, Column A  is greater.

(8)  Solution  :

Given, Flight time from New York to Paris = 8 hours.

We Know that,

1 hr = 3600 seconds

8 hr = 28800 seconds.

Same like that,

60 seconds = 1 minute

28800 seconds = 480 minutes

Therefore, Flight time 8 hours equal to 28800 seconds, 480 minutes.

(9)  Solution  :

Column A :

The first Perfect square is 49 = 7×7 = 72

The next greater term is 8

Square term of 8 = 8×8 = 64

Therefore, 64 is greater than 49.

Column B :

The first Perfect square is 64 = 8×8 = 82

The next smaller term is 7

Square term of 7 = 7×7 = 49

Therefore, 49 is smaller than 64.

So, Both are equal.

(10)  Solution :

Perimeter of the shape given

=  10.1 + 6.2 + 1.5 + 10.1 + 6.2 + 1.5

=  20.2 + 3 + 12.4

=  35.6 cm

So, the perimeter of the shape give above is 35.6 cm.
