**Solve two step equations worksheet :**

Here we are going to see some practice questions of the topic solve two step equations.

Solve means finding the value of the variable that we have in the question.

Some times we may have to do more than one step in solving equations.

An equation is like a weighing balance having equal weights on each side. In an equation there is always an equality sign. This equality sign shows that value of the expression on the left hand side (LHS) is equal to the value of the expression on the right hand side (RHS).

Let us see some examples based on the above concept.

**Question 1 :**

Solve 3p + 4 = 25

**Question 2 :**

Solve 7m - 5 = 30

**Question 3 :**

Solve 2a - 12 = 14

**Question 4 :**

Solve 5x + 3 = 18

**Question 5 :**

Solve - 3(m - 2) = 18

**Question 6 :**

Solve (3x + 1) – 7 = 12

**Question 7 :**

Solve 5x + 3 = 17 - 2x

**Question 1 :**

Solve 3p + 4 = 25

**Solution :**

In order to isolate "3p", we have to subtract 4 on both sides

**3p + 4 - 4 = 25 - 4**

**3p = 21**

Divide by "3' on both sides

3p/3 = 21/3

p = 7

Hence the value of p is 3.

**Question 2 :**

Solve 7m - 5 = 30

**Solution :**

In order to isolate "7m", we have to add 5 on both sides

7m - 5 + 5 = 30 + 5

**7m = 35**

Divide by "7" on both sides

7m/7 = 35/7

m = 5

Hence the value of m is 5.

**Question 3 :**

Solve 2a - 12 = 14

**Solution :**

In order to isolate "2a", we have to add 12 on both sides

2a - 12 + 12 = 14 + 12

**2a = 36**

Divide by "2" on both sides

2a/2 = 36/2

a = 18

Hence the value of a is 18.

**Question 4 :**

Solve 5x + 3 = 18

**Solution :**

In order to isolate "5x", we have to subtract 3 on both sides

5x + 3 - 3 = 18 - 3

**5x = 15**

Divide by "5" on both sides

5x/5 = 15/5

x = 3

Hence the value of x is 3.

**Question 5 :**

Solve - 3(m - 2) = 18

**Solution :**

- 3(m - 2) = 18

-3m + 6 = 18

Subtract "6" on both sides

-3m + 6 - 6 = 18 - 6

-3m = 12

Divide by "-3" on both sides

-3m/(-3) = 12/(-3)

m = -4

Hence the value of m is -4.

**Question 6 :**

Solve (3x + 1) – 7 = 12

**Solution :**

3x + 1 – 7 = 12

3x – 6 = 12

Add "6" on both sides

3x - 6 + 6 = 12 + 6

3x = 18

Divide by "3" on both sides

3x/3 = 18/3

x = 6

Hence the value of x is 6.

**Question 7 :**

Solve 5x + 3 = 17 - 2x

**Solution :**

5x + 3 = 17 - 2x

Add "2x" on both sides

5x + 2x + 3 = 17 - 2x + 2x

7x + 3 = 17

Subtract "3" on both sides

7x + 3 - 3 = 17 - 3

7x = 14

Divide by "7" on both sides

7x/7 = 14/7

x = 2

Hence the value of x is 2.
