CONVERTING DECIMALS TO FRACTIONS

In the process of converting decimal numbers in to fractions, we may have the following situations.

Decimal -----> Proper Fraction

Decimal -----> Improper Fraction

Decimal -----> Mixed Fraction or Mixed Number

Note :

We will have the first and second situations, if the value of the decimal number is greater than 1.

We will have the third situation, if the value of the decimal number is less than 1.

Decimal ---> Proper Fraction

We can convert a decimal number to a proper fraction, if the value of the decimal number is less than 1.

Examples :

0.23,  0.0234,  0.65,  0.1

All the above decimal numbers are less than 1. So we can convert them to proper fractions.

Now, you can learn, how to convert a decimal number to a proper fraction by watching this video.

Decimal ---> Improper Fraction

We can convert a decimal number to an improper fraction, if the value of the decimal number is greater than 1.

Examples :

1.23,  78.34,  891.565,  125.63

All the above decimal numbers are greater than 1. So we can convert them to improper fractions.

Decimal ---> Mixed Number or Mixed Fraction

We can convert a decimal number to a mixed number or mixed fraction, if the value of the decimal number is greater than 1.

Examples :

123.23,  8.34,  81.65,  25.63

All the above decimal numbers are greater than 1. So we can convert them to mixed numbers.
