In this page ratio and proportion solution14 we are going to see solution of each question from the worksheet ratio and proportion.

(28) Rs.1560 is to be divided between A and B in the ratio (1/4) : (1/9). Find the share of each.

**Solution:**

Therefore A will get (1/4)x

Therefore B will get (1/9)x

(x/4) + (x/9) = 1560

(9 x + 4 x)/36 = 1560

13 x/36 = 1560

13 x = 1560(36)

13 x = 46800

x = 46800/13

x = 3600

Therefore A will get = 3600/4

= Rs.900

Therefore B will get = 3600/9

= Rs.400

(29) If 0.3 of a number is equal to 0.12 of another number, find the ratio of the numbers.

**Solution:**

Let x and y are the part of two numbers

0.3 (x) = 0.12 (y)

x/y = 0.12/0.3

x/y = 0.4/0.1

x/y = (0.4/0.1) **x**
(10/10)

(x/y) = 4/1

x : y= 4 : 1

Therefore ratio of two number is 4 : 1.

(30) Divide Rs.585 into two parts in the ratio 2 : 7

**Solution:**

2 x and 7 x are required two numbers

2 x + 7x = 585

9 x = 585

x = 585/9

x = 65

So , 2 x = 2 (65) = 130

7 x = 7 (65) = 455

Therefore the two numbers are 130,455

(31) Divide Rs.782 into three parts in the ratio (1/2) : (2/3) : (3/4)

**Solution:**

Three numbers are (x/2) , (2 x/3) and (3 x/4)

(x/2) + (2 x/3) + (3 x/4) = 782

Now we are going to take L.C.M

L.C.M of 2,3 and 4 is 12

(x/2) **x**
(6/6) + (2 x/3) **x**
(4/4) + (3 x/4) **x**
(3/3) = 782

(6 x/12) + (8 x/12)+ (9 x/12) = 782

(6 x + 8 x + 9 x)/12 = 782

23 x = 782 (12)

23 x = 9384

x = 9384/23

x = 408

x/2 = 408/2 = 204

2x/3 = 2(408)/3 = 272

3x/4 = 3(408)/4 = 306

Therefore the three numbers are 204,272 and 306
