Question 1 :

The value of 25 factorial divided 24 factorial is

(A) 25    (B) 30    (C) 45

Solution :

25!/24!  =  (25 x 24!) / 24!

=  25

Question 2 :

Find the perimeter in inches of a square that has area 49 ft2

(A) 450 inches     (B) 125 inches    (C) 336 inches

Solution :

Area of square  =  49 ft2

a2  =  49

a  =  7

Perimeter of square  =  4a

=  4(7)

=  28 inches

Question 3 :

Kevin's garden measures 13 by 25 feet. What is the area of Kevin's garden, in ft?

(A) 132 ft2      (B) 150 ft2       (C) 325 ft2

Solution :

Length of the garden  =  13 ft

width of the garden  =  25 ft

Area of the garden  =  length x width

=  13 x 25

=  325 ft2

Question 4 :

The area of triangle ABC is 35. If BC = 10, then find the height from A to BC

(A) 5        (B) 7        (C) 3.

Solution :

Area of the triangle  =  35

(1/2) ⋅ base ⋅ height  =  35

base  =  10

(1/2) ⋅ 10 ⋅ height  =  35

height  =  35 / 5

height  =  7

Question 5 :

What is the area of a square with a diagonal of length 50 cm ?

(A) 5 cm2      (B) 25 cm2        (C) 10 cm2

Solution :

Length of the diagonal  =  50 cm

In a square the length of all sides will be equal. The diagonal divides the square into two right triangles.

a2 + a2  =  50

2a2  =  50

a2  =  25

a  =  5

Area of square  =  a2

=  52

=  25

Question 6 :

What is the least number which when divided by 15, 20, 25 and leaves a remainder 10 ?

(A) 310    (B) 300     (C) 450

Solution :

We can find the least number when divided by 15, 20 and 25 leaves the remainder 0 by finding the least common multiple of given numbers.

Least common multiple of (15, 20 and 25) is 300

But the common number should leave the remainder 10.

300 + 10  =  310

Hence 310 is the least number that divides the given numbers by leaving the remainder 10.

Question 7 :

If 1 − 7x  =  2x, then what is x?

(A) 1/5    (B) 1/10     (C) 1/9

Solution :

1  =  2x + 7x

9x  =  1

x  =  1/9

Question 8 :

Subtract 546.925 - 52.68

(A) 494.245   (B) 124.245    (C) 505.212

Solution :

546.925 - 52.68  =  494.245

Question 9 :

What is the distance from the point (0, 2) to the point (0, 6) ?

(A) 4 units   (B) 7 units    (C) 5 units

Solution :

Distance between two points  =  √(x2 - x1)2(y2 - y1)2

=  √(0 - 0)2 + (2 - 6)2

=  √(-4)2

=  4 units

Question 10 :

Simplify 2a + 2a - 8a

(A) -a    (B) -4a      (C) 12a

Solution :

2a + 2a - 8a

=  4a - 8a

=  -4a
