Distance between the points S and R = √(x₂ - x₁) ² + (y₂ - y₁) ²

Here x₁ = 5, y₁ = 4, x₂ = -2  and  y₂ = 5

=    √(-2 - 5)² + (5 - 4)²

=    √(-7)² + (1)²

=    √49 + 1

=   √50

=   √(5 x 5 x 2)

=  5 √2 units
