More Questions

Question 1 :

If x = -2 and y = 3 then find the value of |2x - 3y|

Solution :

To find the value of |2x - 3y|, we have to apply the value of x and y in the given statement.

=  |2x - 3y|

=  |2(-2) - 3(3)|

=  |-4-9|

=  |-13|

=  13

So the required answer 13.

Question 2 :

Simplify the following (8+5) x (35/5) + 6

Solution :

To simplify this, we have to use the rule known as "BODMAS" in the topic "order of operation". First we have to consider the symbol bracket or parenthesis.

=  (8+5) x (35/5) + 6

=  13 x 7 + 6

Next we have to multiply

=  91 + 6

Finally we have to add

=  97

So the required answer will be 97.

Question 3 :

Fill in the blank with any least suitable digit.

54 _562. This number is divisible by 3.

Solution :

Here the given number 54 _562 is divisible by 3.

For that, let us remember the condition for a number which is divisible by 3.

Definition:

A number is divisible by 3 if the sum of the digits is divisible by 3.

For example 363

Here sum of the digits 3 + 6 + 3 = 9 which is divisible by 3. So,  the whole number will be divisible by 3.

Let us consider the missing number as "x". Let us find the sum of digits

=  5 + 4 + x + 5 + 6 + 2

=  9 + x + 11 + 2

=  22 + x

There is only one number should be placed.

If x  =  2, then the sum will become 24.

If x  =  5, then the sum will become 27.

But we have to put only least number. So we have to choose 2.

Question 4 :

The weight of an empty bottle is 128.4 gram. It contains a syrup. The weight of the syrup is 156.8 gram. What is the weight of 24 bottles of syrup?

Solution :

The weight of an empty bottle  =  128.4 gram

weight of the syrup  =  156.8 gram

Weight of one bottle with syrup  =  Weight of empty bottle + Weight of syrup

=  128.4 + 156.8

=  285.2

from this we have to find the weight of 24 bottles

=  24 x 285.2

=  6844.8 grams

So, the required weight is 6844.8 grams.
