Farmers Brown thinks they are both the same, and therefore, just buys the cheaper pen. Which property does he use to say they are the same ?

(A)  They have the perimeter

(B)  They have the same area

(C)  They the same supplier

(D) They have the same volume

Problem 8 :

10x  =  100000

(A)  3     (B)  4      (C)  5      (D)  6      (E)  7

Problem 9 :

The library has 5 mystery books on a shelf. It has 4 times as many fiction books on another shelf. How many fiction books are on the shelf?

Problem 10 :

Sammy has 4/5 of his art project left to paint. He paints 2/5 of the project. What fraction of the project is left to paint?

Problem 11 :

Write the largest number you can using the digits 6, 3, 0, 8, 2 and 5 once only.

Problem 12 :

A supermarket packed 60 eggs into four egg boxes, split equally. How many eggs were in three boxes?

(1)  Solution :

Let us add whole numbers and fraction parts separately,

(5+3) + [2/5+4/5]

(Since, The denominator are same, add the numerator)

=  8+ [2+4/5]

=  8+6/5

Now, 8+6/5

=  [8(5) + 6]/5

=  46/5

Changing the improper fraction into mixed fraction, we get

=  9  1/5

(2)  Solution :

Given, Length of a marathon = 26.219 miles

26.21 have two parts.

Integer Part: 26

Fractional Part: 21

Here the 10th digit is 2 which is less than 5. So, we can round the given decimal as 26.

So, 26 miles is the nearest whole number.

(3)  Solution  :

Given, the perimeter of the triangle is 20.

Formula,

Perimeter of the triangle P=a+b+c    (a=m, b=6, c=6)

20  =  m+6+6

20  =  m+12

12+m  =  20

(4)  Solution  :

So, the remainder is 4.

(5)  Solution  :

Given, (6×9)×2+6

Take, a  =  6, b  =  9, c  =  2, d  =  6

We form to algebraic expression,

(a×b)×c+d  =  (b×c)×a+d

Then, we apply the values a, b, c, d in the expression,

(6×9)×2+6  =  (9×2)×6+6

So, (9×2)×6+6

(6)  Solution  :

1.35 decimal value.

After the decimal, we have two digits.

To change 1.35 as integer, we multiply both numerator and denominator by 100.

So, we get

1.35  =  135/100

=  27/20

Changing the improper fraction to mixed, we get

=  1  7/20

(7)  Solution  :

Given, Two rectangular pens sides,

To find both rectangular pens, Area & Perimeter

We know that,

Area of a rectangle  =  length × width

Perimeter of a rectangle  =  2(length + width)

l = 30 m , w = 15 m

A = l × w

A = 450

P = 2(30+15)

P  =  2(45)

P  =  90

l = 45 m , w = 10 m

A  =  l × w

A  =  45×10

A  =  450

P  =  2(45+10)

P  =  110

Therefore,

Area  =  450 and Perimeter  =  90

Area  =  450 and Perimeter  =  110

So, they have the same area.

(8)  Solution :

100000 can be written as 105

10x  =  105

Since bases are equal, powers are also equal.

So, x  =  5.

(9)  Solution :

Number of mystery books = 5

Number of fiction books = 5 x 4

= 20 books

(10)  Solution :

Fraction of the project left to paint = 4/5 - 2/5

= (4-2)/5

= 2/5

2/5 of the project is left.

(11) Solution :

6, 3, 0, 8, 2 and 5 once only.

Largest number should be written first. By arranging the numbers from greatest to least, we will get the greater number.

865320

(12) Solution :

Number of eggs packed = 60

Number of packages he packed = 4

Number of eggs in each pack = 60/4

= 15 eggs

Number of eggs in each box = 15

Number of eggs in 3 boxes = 3(15)

= 45 eggs.
