A boy secured 88% of the total marks in a public examination. The total marks were 1200. How many marks did the boy secure?

Basic idea:

In this problem a boy has got 88% of total marks in the public examination. If the total marks is 1200.Then we have to find the number of marks scored by the boy.To solve this problem we have to find 88 percent in the total marks. Here the total marks is 1200.So we have to find 88% in 1200.

Total marks  =   1200

Percentage of marks scored by the boy = 88%

Total marks scored by the boy  =  88% of total marks

                                          =   88% of 1200

                                          =   (88/100) x 1200

                                          =   (88  x 1200) /100

Two zeroes in numerator and denominator will get canceled

so that we will get

                                          =   (88 x 12)

                                          =   1056

Total marks scored by the boy = 1056
