## Number line

Number line is a picture of a straight line, on which every point is assumed to denote a real nos, and a real no. to a point. No. line makes it easy to say which no. is greater or which number is smaller. No. line gives the clear concept for addition and subtraction.

Numbers play a vital role in math and also in our day to day life. For example, we are going to shop to buy some articles. To calculate the bill for our purchase, the store keeper must count the articles which we have bought. To do the above mentioned process “counting”, we need numbers. To teach the kids about the numbers, the number-line is required in math. At the initial stage, kids can use the number-line to know particularly which number comes after which number. As we me have mentioned above, by using this number-line, kids can know which number is greater and which number is smaller. For example, let us consider the two numbers “6” and “7”. Here 6 comes on the left and 7 comes on the right. The number which comes on the left is smaller and the number which comes on the right is called greater.

Drawing the number-line:

Usually these are drawn horizontally. Positive number lies on the right side and negative numbers lie left side of 'zero' on the line. Lines are representing continuous numbers(infinite number) on both side.

Representation of Whole numbers in number-line:

Whole numbers begins with '0'. So it starts with '0' to represent whole numbers. Arrow on the right side represents the numbers are continuing, that is the line is infinite. Representation of Integers in number-line:

Negative integers lie on the left side of zero and positive integers lie on the right side of zero. Arrows on both sides are representing infinite numbers, which means the line is continuous. # Quote on Mathematics

“Mathematics, without this we can do nothing in our life. Each and everything around us is math.

Math is not only solving problems and finding solutions and it is also doing many things in our day to day life. They are:
