Answers

1. Answer :

5.7 x 6.3

In 5.7 and 6.3, ignore the decimal points and consider them as if they were integers. That is, 57 and 63.

Multiply 57 and 63.

57 x 63 = 3591

In both 5.7 and 6.3, there is 1 digit to the right of the decimal point. So, in the result 3591, count 2 digits from the right and put a decimal point.

Therefore,

5.7 x 6.3 = 35.91

2. Answer :

0.75 x 8.4

In 0.75 and 8.4, ignore the decimal points and consider them as if they were integers. That is, 75 and 84.

Multiply 75 and 84.

75 x 84 = 6300

In 0.75, there are 2 digits to the right of the decimal point and in 8.4, there is 1 digit to the right of the decimal point, total 3 digits. So, in the result 6300, count  3 digits from the right and put a decimal point.

Therefore,

0.75 x 8.4 = 6.300

= 6.3

Note :

To the right of a decimal point, zeros at the end need not be considered.

3. Answer :

All the sides of a square are equal.

Length of each side = 2.5 ft.

Perimeter of a square = 4 x length of each side

Thus, perimeter :

= 4 × 2.5

= 10 ft.

4. Answer :

Length of each side = 5.3 in.

Area of a square = side x side

= 5.3 x 5.3

= 28.09 ft2

5. Answer :

Length of the rectangle = 4.8 cm.

Width of the rectangle = 2.3 cm.

Area of a rectangle = length x width

= 4.8 x 2.3

= 11.04 cm2

6. Answer :

Length of the rectangle = 7.8 cm.

Width of the rectangle = 3.2 cm.

Perimeter of a rectangle = 2(length + width)

= 2(7.8 + 4.5)

= 2(12.3)

= 24.6 cm

7. Answer :

Circumference of a circle = 2πr

Substitute π ≈ 3.14 and r = 8.6.

 2 x 3.14 x 8.6

= 54.008

Circumference of the circle is about 54.008 cm.

8. Answer :

Area of a circle = πr2

Substitute π ≈ 3.14 and r = 9.2.

 3.14 x 9.22

= 3.14 x 84.64

= 265.7696

Area of the circle is about 265.7696 square cm.

9. Answer :

38% of 78.2 = 38% x 56.5

= (38/100) x 56.5

= 0.38 x 56.5

= 21.47

10. Answer :

0.5% of 1500.6 = 0.5% x 1500.6

= (0.5/100) x 1500.6

= 0.005 x 1500.6

= 7.503

11. Answer :

2.531 x 10

We multiply by 2.531 by 10. So, we have to move the decimal point one digit to the right.

2.531 x 10 = 25.31

12. Answer :

22.728 x 100

We multiply by 22.728 by 100. So, we have to move the decimal point two digits to the right.

22.728 x 100 = 2272.8

13. Answer :

8.754 x 1000

We multiply by 8.754 by 1000. So, we have to move the decimal point three digits to the right.

8.754 x 1000 = 8754

14. Answer :

5.678 x 10000

We multiply by 5.678 by 10000. So, we have to move the decimal point four digits to the right.

But, in 5.678, we have only three digits after the decimal point. To have one more digit after the decimal point, we have to add one zero.

5.678 x 10000 = 56780

15. Answer :

0.956 x 100

We multiply by 0.956 by 100. So, we have to move the decimal point two digits to the right.

0.956 x 100 = 95.6

16. Answer :

0.000023 x 1000

We multiply by 0.000023 by 1000. So, we have to move the decimal point three digits to the right.

0.000023 x 1000 = 0.023
