MULTIPLYING DECIMALS WORKSHEET

1. The side of a square is 3.2 cm. Find its perimeter.

2. The length of a rectangle is 6.3 cm and its width is 3.2 cm. What is the area of the rectangle?

3. Multiply 3.723 by 10.

4. Multiply 22.728 by 100.

5. Multiply 8.754 by 1000.

6. Multiply 3.723 by 10000.

7. Multiply 0.956 by 100.

8. Multiply 0.000023 by 1000. All the sides of a square are equal.

Length of each side = 3.2 cm.

Perimeter of a square = 4 x side

Thus, perimeter = 4 x 3.2 = 12.8 cm.

Length = 6.3 cm and width = 3.2 cm.

Area of the rectangle = length x width

= 6.3 × 3.2

= 20.16 cm2

3.723 x 10

We multiply by 3.723 by 10. So, we have to move the decimal point one digit to the right.

3.723 x 10 = 37.23

22.728 x 100

We multiply by 22.728 by 100. So, we have to move the decimal point two digits to the right.

22.728 x 100 = 2272.8

8.754 x 1000

We multiply by 8.754 by 1000. So, we have to move the decimal point three digits to the right.

8.754 x 1000 = 8754

3.723 x 10000

We multiply by 3.723 by 10000. So, we have to move the decimal point four digits to the right.

But, in 3.723, we have only three digits after the decimal point. To have one more digit after the decimal point, we have to add one zero.

3.723 x 10000 = 37230

0.956 x 100

We multiply by 0.956 by 100. So, we have to move the decimal point two digits to the right.

0.956 x 100 = 95.6

0.000023 x 1000

We multiply by 0.000023 by 1000. So, we have to move the decimal point three digits to the right.

0.000023 x 1000 = 0.023
