MULTIPLICATION WORD PROBLEMS PRACTICE

Question 1 :

Ellen went to the market to buy thanksgiving turkeys. Each turkey cost $39.40. How much did Ellen spend for the 5 turkeys she bought ?

Solution :

Cost of each turkey  =  $39.40

Number of turkeys she busy  =  5

Total cost spent  =  5(39.40)

  =  $197

Question 2 :

Turkey have many feathers. Each turkey has 47 feathers. If there are 8 turkeys in the barn, how many feathers are there in all.

Solution :

Number of turkeys in all  =  8

Number of feathers that each turkey has  =  47

Total number of feathers  =  47(8)

  =  376

Question 3 :

Hendry's garden has 15 rows of carrots. In each row, there are 9 carrots. How many carrots does Henry have in his garden ?

Solution :

Number of rows  =  15

Number of carrots in each row  =  9

Total number of carrots  =  15(9)

  =  135

Question 4 :

It takes Jenny 3 pumpkins to make 1 pie. How many pumpkins does it take to make 245 pumpkin pies for the entire town.

Solution :

To make 1 pie, we need 3 pumpkins.

To make 245 pies, we need 3(245) pumpkins.

So, the required number of pumpkins is 735.

Question 5 :

If I do 48 minutes of homework every night. How many minutes of homework will I have done in 9 nights?

Solution :

Time taken to do homework in every night  =  48 minutes

Time taken by me for 9 nights  =  9(48)

  =  432 minutes

Question 6 :

I have 69 photos in my book. My friend has 5 times as many photos as I do in her book. How many stickers does my friend have in her book?

Solution :

Number of photos i have in my book  =  69

My friend has 5 times as many photos as i have

Number of stickers that she has  =  5(69)

  =  345

Question 7 :

If there are 95 cupcakes in each box and there are 8 boxes, how many cupcakes are there in total? 

Solution :

Number of cupcakes in each box  =  95

Number of boxes  =  8

Total number of cupcakes  =  95(8)

  =  760

Question 8 :

Bella has 88 times more chocolates than Ava. Ava has 5 chocolates. How many chocolates does Bella have? 

Solution :

Number of chocolates that Ava has  =  5

Number of chocolates that Bella has  =  88(5)

  =  440

Question 9 :

If there are 64 train arrivals every day. How many train arrivals are there in 3 days?

Solution :

Number of trains arriving everyday  =  64

Number of trains are arriving in 3 days  =  64(3)

  =  192

Question 10 :

Each person has 49 pears, if there are 4 people, how many pears are there in total?

Solution :

Number of pears that each person has  =  49

Number of people  =  4

Total number of pears  =  49(4)

  =  196
