1. Answer :

Total number of days in an ordinary year = 365.

The zoo was open every day except three holidays.

So, total number of days that zoo opened = 362.

Total number of visitors in the year = 98646.

Therefore, number of visitors visited the zoo each day is nothing but the quotient when we divide 98464 by 362.

Let us use long division to estimate the quotient when we divide 98464 by 362.

Step 1 :

362 is greater than 9 and 98, so divide 984 by 362. Place the first digit in the quotient in the hundreds place. Multiply 2 by 362 and place the product under 984. Subtract.

Step 2 :

Bring down the tens digit. Divide 2,606 by 362. Multiply 7 by 362 and place the product under 2,606. Subtract.

Step 3 :

Bring down the ones digit. Divide the ones.

Callie can pack the books in 154 boxes perfectly and with 2 books left. So, she needs 155 boxes to pack all the books.

6. Answer :

Number of sheets of paper = 500

Number of classes to be divided = 3

500 = 166 x 3 + 2

Each class will get 166 papers and 2 papers will be left over.

7. Answer :

Number of biscuts i have = 40

Number of biscuts my younger brother have = 8

Number of times of biscuts i have = 40/8

= 5

8. Answer :

Number of pencils i have = 72

Number of pencils i have = 6(number of pencils my brother has)

Number of pencils my brother has = 72/6

= 12

9. Answer :

Length of ribbon i cut = 35 cm

Original length of ribbon = 8 x length of ribbon i have

= 8 (35)

= 280 cm

So, the original length of the ribbon is 280 cm.

10. Answer :

Weigth of my younger brother = 15 kg

Weight of my oldeer brother

= 3 x weight of my younger brother

= 3 x 15

= 45 kg
