FREE MATH WORKSHEET FOR 5TH GRADE

Free Math Worksheet for 5th Grade :

In this section, we will see some practice problems for 5th grade students.

Question 1 :

Find the value of (x2 + y2)m,  when x  =  2, y  =  1 and m  =  2

(A) 10    (B) 12    (C) 20

Solution :

(x2 + y2)m  =  (22 + 12) 2

(x2 + y2)m  =  (4 + 1)2

(x2 + y2)m  =  10

Hence the value of (x2 + y2)m is 10.

Question 2 :

Subtract (-7) - (-14)

(A) 5     (B) 7      (C) 9

Solution :

  =  -7 - (-14)

  =  -7 + 14

  =  7

Hence the answer is 7.

Question 3 :

The sign of the product of two negative numbers is always __________

(A) positive    (B) Negative    (C) Zero

Solution :

The product of two negative numbers is positive.

Question 4 :

Mary bought 4/7 kg of beef. She had cooked 3/4 of it for lunch. How much beef did she cook ?

(A) 3/7 kg    (B) 7/8 kg    (C) 4/5 kg

Solution :

Quantity of beef she had originally  =  4/7 kg

Quantity of beef cooked  =  3/4 of 4/7

  =  3/4 ⋅ 4/7

  =  3/7

Quantity of beef she cooked is 3/7 kg.

Question 5 :

Three pieces of pipe weight 10.5 kg, 11.42 kg and 26.5 kg.What is the total weight of the three pieces of pipe?.

(A) 48.42 kg    (B) 57.52 kg     (C) 30.10 kg

Solution :

To find the total weight of three pieces, we have to add them.

  =  10.5 + 11.42 + 26.5

  =  48.42 kg

So, the total weight of pipe is 48.42 kg.

Question 6 :

A wire measures 0.12 meters. If you cut it into 3 pieces of equal length, how long will each piece be?

(A) 0.02 m     (B) 0.06 m     (C) 0.04 m

Solution :

To find the length of each pieces, we should divide the length of pipe by 3.

  =  0.12 / 3

  =  0.04 m

Length of each piece of pipe is 0.04 m.

Question 7 :

The sum of one set of alternate digits and sum of the other set of alternate digits, differ by 0 or 1 or multiple of 11. Then the number is divisible by ______.

(A) 9      (B) 11     (C) 15

Solution :

If a number is multiple of 11 and it is also divisible by 11.

Question 8 :

The product of two numbers is 288. Their L.C.M is 144. What is their G.C.D?

(A) 4     (B) 6      (C) 2

Solution :

Relationship between LCM and GCD is

LCM ⋅ GCD  =  Product of two numbers

144 ⋅ GCD  =  288

GCD  =  288/144

GCD  =  2

Question 9 :

The perimeter of a rectangular garden is 800 m. If the length of the garden is 250 m, find the area of the garden in hectares.

(A) 3.75    (B) 3.2      (C) 10.5

Solution :

Perimeter of the rectangular garden  =  800 m

2(l + w)  =  800

l + w  =  400

length of garden  =  250 m

250 + w  =  400

w  =  400 - 250

w  =  150

Area of rectangular garden  =  l ⋅ w

   =  250 ⋅ 150

   =  37500

1000 m2  =  1 hectare

=   37500/1000

=  3.75 hectare

Question 10 :

The volume of a cuboid is 11856 cu.cm. If the length is 5.5 m and the breadth is 2.8 m. Find the height of the box.

(A) 16 cm      (B) 26 cm      (C) 50 cm

Solution :

Volume of a cuboid   =  11856 cu.cm.

length ⋅ breadth ⋅ height  =  11856

 length  =  15.5 m, breadth  =  27.8 m and height  =  h

15.5 (27.8) ⋅ h  =  11856

h  =  11856/430.9

h  =  27.51

The height of the box is 27.51 m.
