Question 2 :
Find the mode for the set of values :
17, 18, 20, 20, 21, 21, 22, 22
Question 3 :
Find the mode of the given data :
3.1, 3.2, 3.3, 2.1, 1.3, 3.3, 3.1
Find the mode.
Question 4 :
Find the mode for the set of values :
2.3, 3, 4.5, 2.3, 2.1, 2.3, 5, 8, 2.3, 4.5
Question 5 :
Following are the margin of victory in the foot ball matches of a league.
1, 3, 2, 5, 1, 4, 6, 2, 5, 2, 2, 2, 4, 1, 2, 3, 2, 3, 2, 3, 1, 1, 2, 3, 2, 6, 4, 3, 2, 1, 1, 4, 2, 1, 5, 3, 4, 2, 1, 2.
Find the mode.
Question 6 :
The number of children in 20 families are
1, 2, 2, 1, 2, 1, 3, 1, 1, 3, 1, 3, 1, 1, 1, 2, 1, 1, 2, 1
Find the mode.
Question 7 :
A set of numbers consists of five 4’s, four 5’s, nine 6’s,and six 9’s. What is the mode ?
Question 8 :
The demand of track suit of different sizes as obtained by a survey is given below :
Question 9 :
For the data 11, 15, 17, (x + 1), 19, (x – 2), 3, if the mean is 14 , find the value of x. Also find the mode of the data.
Question 10 :
Explain unimodal, bimodal, trimodal and multimodal.
Answer (1) :
In the given data $800 occurs thrice. So, the mode is $800.
Answer (2) :
In the given data, three values 20, 21, 22 occur two times each. There are three modes for the given data!
Answer (3) :
In the given data, two values 3.1 and 3.3 occur two times each. There are two modes for the given data!
Answer (4) :
In the given data 2.3 occurs more number of times (4 times). So, the mode is 2.3.
Answer (5) :
Since 2 has occurred more number of times (14 times), the mode of the given data is 2.
Answer (6) :
Since 2 has occurred more number of times (15 times), the mode of the given data is 2.
Answer (7) :
6 has the maximum frequency 9.
So, 6 is the mode.
Answer (8) :
Since size 40 has the maximum frequency 37, mode of the above data is 40.
So, size 40 is in greater demand.
Answer (9) :
It is given that mean is 14.
Mean = 14
[11 + 15 + 17 + (x + 1) + 19 + (x – 2) + 3] / 7 = 14
(2x + 64) / 7 = 14
Multiply each side by 7.
2x + 64 = 98
Subtract 64 from each side.
2x = 34
Divide each side by 2.
x = 17
Then, the given data :
11, 15, 17, 18, 19, 15, 3
In the above data, 15 occurs more number of times (2 times). So, the mode is 15.
Answer (10) :
∙ A distribution having only one mode is called unimodal.
∙ A distribution having two modes is called bimodal.
∙ A distribution having Three modes is called trimodal.
∙ A distribution having more than three modes is called multimodal.
