Finding Equation of a Line From Two Points Worksheet :
Here we are going to see some practice problems on finding equation of the line from given points.
The equation of a straight line is satisfied by the co-ordinates of every point lying on the straight line and not by any other point outside the straight line.
Equation of a line using two points on the line :
(y - y₁)/(y₂ - y₁) = (x - x₁)/(x₂ - x₁)
Here (x₁,y₁) and (x₂,y₂) are the points on the line.
If we have any two points on the line, we can use this formula to find the equation.
Question 1 :
Find the equation of the line which is passing through the points (1, 4) and (3, -2).
(A) 3 x + y - 7 = 0
(B) 2 x + y - 14 = 0
(C) x - y - 7 = 0
Question 2 :
Find the equation of the line which is passing through the points (0, 4) and (3, 1).
(A) x - 2y - 4 = 0
(B) 2x - y - 14 = 0
(C) x + y - 4 = 0
Question 3 :
Find the equation of the line which is passing through the points (3, 1) and (-3, 2).
(A) x + 6y - 9 = 0
(B) x - 6y - 9 = 0
(C) 2x + 6y + 9 = 0
Question 4 :
Find the equation of the line which is passing through the points (2, 6) and (1, 2).
(A) x + y + 4 = 0
(B) 4x - y - 2 = 0
(C) x + 2y + 9 = 0
Question 5 :
Find the equation of the line which is passing through the points (5, -5) and (2, 7).
(A) x - y + 5 = 0
(B) 4 x + y - 15 = 0
(C) 4 x + 2y - 15 = 0
Question 6 :
Find the equation of the line which is passing through the points (1, 3) and (0, 7).

(C) x + y - 15 = 0
Question 7 :
Find the equation of the line which is passing through the points (2, -8) and (-5, 2).
(A) 3 x + 4 y - 3 = 0
(B) 2 x + 5y - 14 = 0
(C) 10 x + 7y + 36 = 0
Question 8 :
Find the equation of the line which is passing through the points (3, 0) and (4, -1).
(A) x + y - 3 = 0
(B) x - y + 3 = 0
(C) x - y - 13 = 0
Question 9 :
Find the equation of the line which is passing through the points (-1, -5) and (-3, -1).

(B) x + 4y + 20 = 0
(C) x - 2y - 10 = 0
Question 11 :
Find the equation of the line which is passing through the points (4, -3) and (0, -2).
(A) x + 4y + 8 = 0
(B) x - 4y - 8 = 0
(C) x - 2y - 5 = 0
Question 12 :
Find the equation of the line which is passing through the points (2, -1) and (-1, -7).
(A) 3 x + y + 5 = 0
