DOUBLE FACTS

Double Facts are additions in which a number is added to itself.

For example, 1 + 1, 2 + 2 etc. 

Internalizing double facts are helpful building blocks in developing fluency in adding single digit numbers.

Problem 1 :

Daniel has 5 ice-creams. if he get more 5 ice-creams, how many ice-creams does daniel have?

Solution :

Number of ice creams Daniel has = 5

Number of more ice creams he get = 5

Total number of ice creams he has = 5 + 5

= 10 ice creams

Problem 2 :

Lia has 1 pen. if she get more 1 pen, how many pens does lia have?

Solution :

Number of pen Lia has = 1

Number of more pencils he get more = 1

Total number of pencils = 1 + 1

= 2 pencils

Problem 3 :

Mack has 3 books. if he get more 3 books, how many books does mack have?

Solution :

Number of books Mack has = 3

Number of more books she get more = 3

Total number of books = 3 + 3

= 6 books

Problem 4 :

Nick has 6 pencils. if he get more 6 pencils, how many pencils does nick have? 

Solution :

Number of pencils Nick has = 6

Number of more pencils he has = 6

Total number of pencils = 6 + 6

= 12 pencils

Problem 5 :

Lisa has 4 rings. if she get more 4 rings, how many rings does lisa have? 

Solution :

Number of rings Lisa has = 4

More number of rings she has = 4

Total number of rings = 4 + 4

= 8

Problem 6 :

Jerry has 3 boxes. if she get more 3 boxes, how many boxes does jerry have? 

Solution :

Number of boxes Jerry has = 3

More number of boxes = 3

Total number of boxes = 3 + 3

= 6 boxes

Problem 7 :

Emma had 8 cookies. She ate 4 of them. How many cookies does she have left?

Solution :

Number of cookies Emma had = 8

Number of cookies she ate = 4

Number of cookies she have left = 8 - 4

= 4 cookies

Problem 8 :

Jason had 12 marbles. He lost 6 of them while playing. How many marbles does he have now?

Solution :

Total number of marbles Jason has = 12

Number of marbles lost = 6

Number of marbles she has now = 12 - 6

= 6

Problem 9 :

Olivia had 10 stickers. She gave away 5 of them to her friend. How many stickers does Olivia have left?

Solution :

Number of stickers = 10

Number of stickers gave away = 5

Number of stickers Olivia has = 10 - 5

= 5

Problem 10 :

Ethan had 14 candies. He shared 7 of them with his sister. How many candies does Ethan have now?

Solution :

Number of candies Ethan has = 14

Number of candies she shares = 7

Number of candies left = 14 - 7

= 7

Problem 11 :

Sophia had 16 toy blocks. She misplaced 8 of them. How many toy blocks does Sophia have left?

Solution :

Number of toy blocks she has = 16

Number of blocks she misplaces = 8

Number of blocks left = 16 - 8

= 8
