Problem 15 :

To find the number of boxes needed, we have to divide the the total number of cans by number of cans in each box.

= 480/30

= 16

So, they needed 16 boxes.

To find the time to plow 50 acres, we have to divide 50 acres by number of acres plowed in 1 hour.

= 50/8

= 6.25 hours

= 6 hours + 0.25 bhours

= 6 hours, (0.25 x 60) minutes

= 6 hours 15 minutes

Mr. James needs 6 hours 15 minutes to plow 50 acres.

To share \$2,400 evenly among 8 charities, we have to divide 2400 by 8.

= 2400/8

= 300

To find the speed in miles per hour, we have to find the distance traveled in one hour.

To find the distance traveled in one hour, divide the total distance traveled by time.

= 319/(5 hours 30 minutes)

= 319/5.5

= 58

William's speed was 58 miles per hour.

To find the plane's average speed, divide the distance traveled by time.

= 3060/5

= 612

So, the plane's average speed is 612 miles hour.

1 yard = 36 inches

To convert 288 inches to yards, divide 288 by 36.

= 288/36

= 8

So, the length of the bedroom is 8 yards.

Given : The cost of 8.5 lbs. is \$157.25.

Then, cost of 1 lb. is

= 157.25/8.5

= 18.50

So, the cost of 1 lb. of sea food is \$18.50.

Given : Cost of 210 tickets was \$1,260.

To find the cost of each ticket, divide 1260 by 210.

= 1260/210

= 6

So, the cost of a ticket was \$6.

Given : Jeslyn burns 1250 calories in 2.5 hours.

To find the amount of calories she burns per hour, we have to divide 1250 calories by 2.5.

= 1250/2.5

= 500

So, Jeslyn burns 500 calories per hour.

There are 72 pencils and each box can contain 8 pencils.

Number of boxes Sophia needs :

= 72/8

= 9

There are 132 monster brownies and 11 people.

Number of brownies each friend get :

= 132/11

= 12

There are 4 watermelons in each box.

Number if watermelons in 5 boxes :

= 5 x 4

= 20

20 watermelons have to be distributed equally among 10 friends.

Number of watermelons each friend gets :

= 20/10

= 2

Oliver travels 8 miles for every 15 minutes.

15 minutes ----> 8 miles

4(15 minutes) ----> 4(8 miles)

60 minutes ----> 32 miles

1 hour ----> 32 miles

Oliver travels 32 miles in one hour.

Number of hours Oliver needs to cover 224 miles :

= 224/32

= 7

A skydiver falls at a rate of 36 feet per second.

1 second ----> 36 feet

Time required to fall 180 feet :

= 180/36 seconds

= 5 seconds

Isabella scores 5 points for crossing every 7 feet of distance.

7 feet ----> 5 points

Number of 5-points Isabella gets on 63 feet of distance :

= 63/7

= 9
