Answers

1. Answer :

Order of the first matrix = 2 x 2

Order of the second matrix = 2 x 2

Since the order the first matrix and order of the second matrix are equal, we can find the sum of the above two matrices.

2. Answer :

Order of the first matrix = 3 x 3

Order of the second matrix = 3 x 3

Since the order the first matrix and order of the second matrix are equal, we can find the sum of the above two matrices.

3. Answer :

Order of the first matrix = 2 x 3

Order of the second matrix = 2 x 3

Since the order the first matrix and order of the second matrix are equal, we can find the sum of the above two matrices.

4. Answer :

Order of the first matrix = 2 x 2

Order of the second matrix = 3 x 2

Since the order the first matrix and order of the second matrix are NOT equal, addition of the above two matrices is undefined.

5. Answer :

Since the above two matrices are equal of the same order, the corresponding elements can be equated.

2a - 1 = 3

a = 2

-5b + 2 = 17

b = -3

4c = -16

c = -4

3d = -3

d = -1

6. Answer :

Order of the first matrix = 2 x 2

Order of the second matrix = 2 x 2

Since the order the first matrix and order of the second matrix are equal, we can find the difference of the above two matrices.

7. Answer :

Order of the first matrix = 2 x 3

Order of the second matrix = 2 x 3

Since the order the first matrix and order of the second matrix are equal, we can find the difference of the above two matrices.

8. Answer :

Order of the first matrix = 4 x 2

Order of the second matrix = 4 x 2

Since the order the first matrix and order of the second matrix are equal, we can find the difference of the above two matrices.

9. Answer :

Order of the first matrix = 2 x 3

Order of the second matrix = 3 x 2

Since the order the first matrix and order of the second matrix are NOT equal, difference of the above two matrices is undefined.

10. Answer :

Since the above two matrices are equal of the same order, the corresponding elements can be equated.

p = -4

q = -14

r = -1

s = -1

t = 3
