# ADD AND SUBTRACT WHOLE NUMBERS UP TO MILLIONS

Add and subtract whole numbers up to millions:

This is basic topic for the students who are in primary level. Here we are going to learn how to add and subtract whole numbers.

How to add and subtract whole numbers ?

When we add two or more whole numbers, first we have to line up the numbers based on the number of digits. We have to perform addition or subtraction from ones digit.

Example 1 :

Solution :

Hence, 2,489 + 9,605 + 3,814 = 15,908

Example 2 :

Solution :

Hence, 5,806 + 1,068 + 8,320 = 15,194

Example 3 :

Solution :

Hence, 7957 + 6438 + 4539  =  18934

Example 4 :

Solution :

Hence, 8534 + 5879 + 6261  =  20674

Example 5 :

Solution :

Hence, 2006 + 2430 + 4231  =  8667

Example 6 :

Subtract 8534 from 10986

Solution :

Always we have to perform addition or subtraction from ones digit.

Step 1 :

By subtracting 4 from 6 we get 2.

Step 2 :

By subtracting the tens digit 3 from 8 we get 5.

Step 3 :

By subtracting the hundreds digit 5 from 9 we get 4.

Step 4 :

Since 5 is lesser than 8, we need to borrow one from the ten thousand digit. So, 5 will become 15 and subtract 8 from this 15.

Hence, 10986 - 8534  =  17,452

Example 7 :

Subtract 3907 from 4210

Solution :

Hence, 4210 - 3907  =  303

Example 8 :

Subtract 13396 from 15449

Solution :

Hence, 15449 - 13396  =  2053

Example 9 :

Subtract 10243 from 14807

Solution :

Hence, 14807 - 10243  =  4564

Example 10 :

Subtract 110262 from 253089

Solution :

Hence, 253089 - 110262 =  142827

Example 11 :

Subtract 11026 from 25089

Solution :

Hence, 25089 - 11026 =  14063
