**6th Grade Math Questions and Answers**

In this section, we will see some practice problems for 6th grade students.

**Question 1 :**

What is the successor of the number 1000906

(A) 1000907 (B) 1000905 (C) 100907

**Solution :**

Successor of a number, the number just after the given number.

Successor of 1000906 is 1000907.

**Question 2 :**

Find the sum of 13, 412, 687 and 908

(A) 2020 (B) 2000 (C) 1950

**Solution : **

Sum of 13, 412, 687 and 908 = 13 + 412 + 687 + 908

= 2020

**Question 3 :**

The population of a town is 450772. 1 out of every 14 persons is reported to be educated.In all, how many educated persons are there in the town.

(A) 32198 (B) 35000 (C) 14265

**Solution :**

Total population = 450772

Number of educated persons = 450772/14

= 32198

Hence the number of educated persons is 32198.

**Question 4 :**

The population of a village is 1500. If 489 are men and 472 are women and the remaining are children.Find the number of children.

(A) 539 (B) 530 (C) 129

**Solution :**

Number of children

= Total number of people - (Number of men + Number of women)

= 1500 - (489 + 472)

= 1500 - 961

= 539

Hence the number of children are 539.

**Question 5 :**

Find the cube of -13.

(A) 2197 (B) -2197 (C) 169

**Solution :**

Cube of -13 = (-13)^{3}

= -2197

**Question 6 :**

Simplify the following expression

30 - [15 - {6 + (18 - 14)}]

(A) 15 (B) 25 (C) 28

**Solution :**

= 30 - [15 - {6 + (18 - 14)}]

= 30 - [15 - (6+4)]

= 30 - [15 - 10]

= 30 - 5

= 25

Hence the answer is 25.

**Question 7 :**

What is the largest 4 digit number?

(A) 4444 (B) 9999 (C) 8542

**Solution :**

The largest 4 digit number is 9999.

**Question 8 :**

HCF and LCM of two numbers are 5 and 280 respectively. If one of the number is 35, find the other number.

(A) 20 (B) 30 (C) 40

**Solution :**

Relationship between HCF and LCM.

HCF x LCM = Product of two numbers

HCF = 5, LCM = 280

One of the number = 35

Let be the unknown number.

5 x 280 = 35 ⋅ x

x = (5 ⋅ 280)/35

x = 40

Hence the answer is 40.

**Question 9 :**

An office opens at 9:00 a.m and closes at 5:30 p.m with a lunch interval of 30 minutes. What is the ratio of lunch interval to the total period in office.

(A) 1 : 17 (B) 17 : 1 (C) 1 : 15

**Solution :**

The time difference between 9 : 00 am to 5.30 pm is 8 hours 30 minutes.

8 hours = 8 (60) = 480 seconds

480 + 30 = 510 seconds

Ratio between the lunch interval and total period in office.

= 510 : 30

= 51 : 3

= 17 : 1

**Question 10 :**

Solve the equation x - 7 = -15

(A) 4 (B) -8 (C) 15

**Solution :**

x - 7 = -15

x = -15 + 7

x = -8

Hence the answer is -8.
