**Solution:**

Let "x" be the required number of teachers

Number of teachers Number of students

90 1500

x 2000

If the number of students increases then the requirement of number teachers should be increase. So it is in direct variation.

90 **x** 2000 = 1500 **x **x

X = (90** x **2000)/1500

x = 180000/1500

x = 120 teachers

A car travels 60 km in 45 minutes. At the same rate, how many kilo meters

will it travel in one hour?

**Solution:**

Let "x" be the distance taken by car to cover the distance in one hour

If the time taken is increases then the distance covered by the car is also increases. So it is in direct variation.

60 **x** 60 = 45 **x **x

X = (60** x **60)/45

x = 3600/45

x = 80 km

A man whitewashes 96 sq.m of a compound wall in 8 days. How many

sq.m will be white washed in 18 days?

Let "x" be square meters white washed in 18 days

If the number of days taken increases then number of square meter also increase . So it is in direct variation.

96 **x** 18 = 8 **x **x

X = (96** x **18)/8

x = 1728/8

x = 216 sq.m
