**Solution:**

**Centroid of a triangle = (x****₁+x****₂+x****₃)/3, (y****₁+y****₂+y****₃)/3**

let A,B and C be the vertices of triangle ABC. Here A (-3, -9), B (-1,6) and let us take the third missing vertex be (a,b).

x₁ = -3 x₂ = 5 x₃ = a

y₁ = -9 y₂ = -8 y₃ = b

(5/3 , -8/3) = [(-3) + 5 + a ]/3 , [ (-9) + (-8) + b ]/3

(5/3 , -8/3) = [-3 + 5 + a ]/3 , [ -9 - 8 + b ]/3

(5/3 , -8/3) = [2 + a ]/3 , [ -17 + b ]/3

Equating x and y coordinates

[2 + a ]/3 = 5/3 [ -17 + b ]/3 = -8/3

2 + a = 5 - 17 + b = -8

a = 5 - 2 b = -8 + 17

a = 3 b = 9

Therefore the third vertex is (3,9).
