# Point Slope Form Question9

In this page point slope form question9 we are going to see solution of first question. After verifying the solution you can continue the quiz from the second question.

Point- Slope form:

(y-y1) = m (x-x1)

Here m = slope and (x1,y1) are the given point on the line.

If we have slope and one point is on the line we can use this formula to find the equation. The tangent of the angle of inclination is called slope or gradient of the line. Question 1 :

Find the equation of a straight line whose slope is 5 and which passes through the point (1,-3)

 (A) 2 x - 3 y - 8 = 0 (B) 5 x - y - 8 = 0 (C) x - 5y + 3 = 0

Question 2 :

Find the equation of a straight line whose slope is -1/5 and which passes through the point (4,8)

 (A) x - 5 y - 44 = 0 (B) 2x + 3y - 44 = 0 (C) 3x + 2y - 14 = 0

Question 3 :

Find the equation of a straight line whose slope is 1/7 and which passes through the point (-1,8)

 (A) x - 7 y + 57 = 0 (B) 2 x + 5 y + 27 = 0 (C) 4 x + 3 y - 2 = 0

Question 4 :

Find the equation of a straight line whose slope is 2/5 and which passes through the point (0,-7)

 (A) x + 5 y + 8 = 0 (B) 3 x - 2 y + 15 = 0 (C) 2 x - 5 y - 35 = 0

Question 5 :

Find the equation of a straight line whose slope is 5/7 and which passes through the point (-2,-1)   point slope form question9

 (A) 5 x - 7 y + 3 = 0 (B) 2 x - 3 y - 8 = 0 (C) x - 3 y - 10 = 0

Question 6 :

Find the equation of a straight line whose slope is 7 and which passes through the point (5,-6)

 (A) x - y + 21 = 0 (B) 7 x + y + 41 = 0 (C) x - 2 y + 8 = 0

Question 7 :

Find the equation of a straight line whose slope is 6 and which passes through the point (-1,-2)

 (A) 2 x - y + 21 = 0 (B) 2 x - 3 y - 2 = 0 (C) 6 x - y + 4 = 0

Question 8 :

Find the equation of a straight line whose slope is 2/3 and which passes through the point (-2,-4)

 (A) x + y + 16 = 0 (B) 2 x - 3 y + 16 = 0 (C) x + y + 16 = 0

Question 9 :

Find the equation of a straight line whose slope is -1/5 and which passes through the point (-3,-1)

Solution:

Slope (m) = -1/5 and the point (x₁,y₁) = (-3,-1)

Equation of a line:

(y-y₁) = m (x-x₁)

(y - (-1)) = (-1/5) (x - (-3))

(y + 1) = (-1/5) (x + 3)

5 (y + 1) = -1 (x + 3)

5 y + 5 = - 1 x - 3

x + 5 y + 3 + 5 = 0

x + 5 y + 8 = 0

Question 10 :

Find the equation of a straight line whose slope is -2/7 and which passes through the point (-5,-4)

 (A) 2 x + 7 y + 38 = 0 (B) x - y + 38 = 0 (C) 2 x - 7 y - 38 = 0
