In this page perimeter and area solution2 we are going to see solution of some practice questions.
Question 2 :
The cost of a right triangular land and the cost of a rectangular land are equal. Both the lands are adjacent to each other. In a right triangular land the adjacent sides of the right angles are 30 m and 40 m. The dimensions of the rectangular land are 20 m and 15 m. Which is best to purchase?
Solution:
Let us take a right angle triangle ABC,in which right angle is at B.In a right triangular land the adjacent sides of the right angles are 30 m and 40 m.
AB = 30 m and BC = 40 m
The dimensions of the rectangular land are 20 m and 15 m.
Length of rectangular land = 20 m
Width of rectangular land = 15 m
Cost of right angle triangle ABC = Cost of rectangular field ABCD
To find which purchase is best we need to find the area of both lands separately,
Area of right angle triangle ABC = (1/2) x b x h
= (1/2) x 40 x 30
= 40 x 15
= 600 m²
Area of rectangular field = Length x Width
= 20 x 15
= 300 m²
Since area of right triangle is more we can choose right triangle field for best purchase.
