Divisibility rule of 2 :
Here we are going to see how to test whether the number is divisible by 2 or not.
Meaning of divisibility :
When one number can be divided by another and the result is an exact whole number or the remainder need to be zero.
Divisibility rule of 2 :
All even numbers are divisible by 2.
The number which ends with one of the following numbers, that is 0, 2, 4, 6 or 8 is known as even numbers.
If the given ends with any of the above numbers, we can say that the given number is divisible by 2.
Example 1 :
Let us test the number 16 is divisible by 2 or not. To test that divide 16 by 2. The result will be 8 (quotient) or the remainder is zero.
Hence, the given number "16" is exactly divisible by 2
Example 2 :
Let us take the another number 21. To check whether it is divisible by 2 or not. Divide 21 by 2. The result will be 10.5 (not a whole number).
Hence, the given number 21 is not divisible by 2.

Question 1 :
Which of the following is divisible by 2?
Options :
(A) 15
(B) 12
(C) 11
Solution :
Divisibility rule of 2 :
The number which ends with one of the following numbers, that is 0, 2, 4, 6 or 8 is known as even numbers.
Option A :
Since the unit digit of the number 15 is 5, it is not even number. So it is not divisible by 2.
Option B :
The unit digit of the number 12 is 2, it is even number. So it is divisible by 2.
Option C :
Since the unit digit of the number 11 is 1, it is not even number. So it is not divisible by 2.
Hence, 12 is the number which is divisible by 2.
Question 2 :
Which of the following is divisible by 2?
Options :
(A) 101
(B) 105
(C) 108
Solution :
Option A :
Since the unit digit of the number 101 is 1, it is not even number. So it is not divisible by 2.
Option B :
Since the unit digit of the number 105 is 5, it is not even number. So it is not divisible by 2.
Option C :
Since the unit digit of the number 108 is 8, it is not even number. So it is not divisible by 2.
Question 3 :
Which of the following number must be added with 13 to get the two divisible number?
Options :
(A) 1
(B) 5
(C) 0
Solution :
Option A :
13 + 1 = 14
Since the unit digit of the number 14 is 4, it is even number. So it is divisible by 2.
Option B :
13 + 5 = 18
Since the unit digit of the number 18 is 8, it is even number. So it is divisible by 2.
Option C :
13 + 0 = 13
Since the unit digit of the number 13 is 3, it is not even number. So it is not divisible by 2.
Hence, the numbers 1 and 5 must be added with 13 to get the two divisible number.
Questions 4 :
Which of the following number must be subtracted from 27 to get the two divisible number?
Options :
(A) 2
(B) 1
(C) 0
Solution :
Option A :
27 - 2 = 25
Since the unit digit of the number 25 is 5, it is not even number. So it is not divisible by 2.
Option B :
27 - 1 = 26
Since the unit digit of the number 26 is 6, it is even number. So it is divisible by 2.
Option C :
27 - 0 = 27
Since the unit digit of the number 27 is 7, it is not even number. So it is not divisible by 2.
Hence, the number 1 must be subtracted from 27 to get the two divisible number.
Question 5 :
Which of the following statement is not true?
Options :
(A) All the two digit number is divisible by 2
(B) Two divisible number ends with 0, 2, 4, 6, 8
(C) Even number are divisible by 2
Solution :
Option A is correct.
