Solution:

To find the center of the circle we need to find the point of intersection of two given lines

x + 2y = 7 ---- (1)

2 x + y = 8 ---- (2)

(1) - (2)

(1) x 2 => 2x + 4y = 14

y = 2

Substitute y = 2 in the first equation

x + 2(2) = 7

x + 4 = 7

x = 7 - 4

x = 3

the point of intersection is (3,2)

Distance between the points (3,2) and (0,-2)

= √(x₂ - x₁)² + (y₂ - y₁)²

= √(0 - 3)² + (-2 - 2)²

= √(- 3)² + (-4)²

= √9 + 16

= √25

= 5 units
