In this page ratio and proportion solution17 we are going to see solution of each question from the worksheet ratio and proportion.

(37) A school collected Rs.2100 for charity. It was decided to divide the money between an orphanage and blind school in the ratio 3 : 4 how much money did each receive?

**Solution:**

The ratio of money to be divided = 3 : 4

3 x + 4 x = 2100

7 x = 2100

x = 2100/7

x = 300

3x = 3 (300) = 900

4 x = 4 (300) = 1200

Therefore orphanage will get Rs. 900

Bind school will get Rs.1200

(38) Two numbers are in the ratio 3 : 5. If 8 is added to each number, the ratio becomes 2 : 3. Find the numbers.

**Solution:**

Two numbers are in the ratio 3 : 5

(3 x + 8):(5x + 8) = 2 : 3

(3 x + 8)/(5x + 8) = 2/3

3 (3 x + 8) = 2 (5 x + 8)

9 x + 24 = 10 x + 16

9 x - 10 x = 16 – 24

-x = -8

x = 8

Therefore the required number is 8.
