**Question 1 :**

Sibi wants to cover the floor of a room 5 m long and width 4 m by square tiles.If area of each square tiles is 0.5 m²,then find the number of tiles required to cover the floor of a room

**Solution:**

Length of the floor = 5 m

Width of the floor = 4 m

Area of the square shaped tile = 0.5 m²

To find number of tiles required to cover the floor of a room we have to divide the area of floor by area of one tile.

Number of tiles required = Area of floor/Area of one tile

Area of floor:

Floor is in the shape of rectangle,so we have to use area of rectangle formula to find area of the floor.

Area of the floor = Length **x** Width

= 5 **x** 4

= 20 m²

Number of tiles = 20/0.5

= 40 tiles

**Therefore the required number of tiles = 40**
