Dividing Two Fractions

In this page dividing two fractions, we are going to see examples problems on dividing any two fractions.

Examples of dividing two fractions:

Example 1:

Divide 5/13 by 25/39

Solution:

      =  5/13 ÷ 25/39

In this problem we are having the symbol division in the middle of two fractions. So we are going to change the division which is in the middle as multiplication and we have to change the second fraction as its reciprocal.

      =  5/13 x 39/25

      =  (5 x 39) / (13 x 25)

We can simplify 39 and 13 by using  13 times table and we have to change 5 and 25 using 5 times table.

      =  ( 1 x 3 ) / (1 x 5)

      =  3 / 5

If we divide those two fractions we will get the answer 3/5.

Example 2:

Divide 32/49 by 18/35

Solution:

      =  32/49 ÷ 18/35

In this problem we are having the symbol division in the middle of two fractions. So we are going to change the division which is in the middle as multiplication and we have to change the second fraction as its reciprocal.

      =  32/49 x 35/18

      =  (32 x 35) / (49 x 18)

We can simplify 32 and 18 by using  2 times table and we have to change 35 and 49 using 7 times table.

      =  ( 16 x 5 ) / (7 x 9)

      =  80 / 63

If we divide those two fractions we will get the answer 80/63.

Example 3:

Divide 2/9 by 18/27

Solution:

      =  2/9 ÷ 18/27

In this problem we are having the symbol division in the middle of two fractions. So we are going to change the division which is in the middle as multiplication and we have to change the second fraction as its reciprocal.

      =  2/9 x 18/27

      =  (2 x 18) / (9 x 27)

We can simplify 9 and 18 by using  9 times table

      =  ( 2 x 2 ) / (1 x 27)

      =  4/27

If we divide those two fractions we will get the answer 4/27.
