Area of Sector Question2

Question 1 :

Find the area of sector whose perimeter is 78 cm and central angle is 45°



(A) 122 square cm

Question 2 :

Find the area of sector whose perimeter is 64 cm and central angle is 60°  area of sector question2

Solution :

In this problem we need to find the area of the sector.For that we can use two formulas but from the given information we come to know that first we have to find the arc length

Perimeter of sector = 64 cm

                  L + 2r = 64 -------(1)

 Here L - arc length

       L = (θ/360) x 2 Π r

       L = (60/360) x 2 x (22/7) x r

       L = (1/6) x 2 x (22/7) x r

       L = (1/3) x (22/7) x r

       L = [(1x22)/(3x7)] x r

       L = (22 r/21)

substitute L = 22r/21 in the first equation to get the value of r

         (22r/21) + 2 r = 64

         (22 r/21) + (2 r/1) = 64

         (22r/21) + (2 r x 21)/21 = 64

     (22 r + 42 r) /21 = 64

               (64 r/21) = 64 

                         r = 64 x (21/64)

                         r = 21

from this we can find the value of and L and we can apply the second formula to get the area of sector or we can apply the first formula to get the answer.

Area of sector = (θ/360) x Π r²

                    = (60/360) x (22/7) x 21 x 21

                    = (1/6)  x 22 x 3 x 21

                    = (1/2) x 22 x 21

                    = 11 x 21                                  

                    = 231 square cm

Therefore area of sector = 231 square cm
